One of the reasons I started Chic-a 9 years ago was to be able to give back. I want to help organizations that are making a difference in people’s lives and communities, locally and globally. To be able to give some of the resources that Chic-a receives from sales is why I am in business. Starting up a company is not an easy task and it has taken these 9 years to come to the point that I can start giving back.
I have selected two organizations that speak to my heart. One is local here in Santa Barbara, CA and the other is across the globe in Madagascar. They are making a difference one life at a time and it is great to support them so they can continue to bless and help those in need. Chic-a is donating monthly to each of these organizations. If you would also like to donate there are links below.
Sarobidy Maternity Center,
part of Red Island Restoration Project – Madagascar
The Sarobidy Maternity Center is about, “Empowering impoverished women in Madagascar with truth, education and compassionate medical care during pregnancy, labor and birth, and the newborn period.”
“Women throughout the world deliver their babies at home, alone and unassisted. When complications arise often disaster ensues. Madagascar is no different. Here, a woman’s lifetime risk that she’ll die in childbirth is 1 in 45. Just for comparison, the rate is 1 in 3,800 in developing countries.
Sarobidy is the word for precious in Malagasy. We believe that life is precious and that the family unit is precious. We believe that every woman has the right to quality and compassionate medical care and education as it relates to her pregnancy, baby, birth and the time following birth.”
WillBridge of Santa Barbara
WillBridge of Santa Barbara is about, “Providing a safe-haven as an alternative to incarceration for chronic homeless, mentally ill adults and females at risk of violent crimes.”
WillBridge’s mission is to bring hope to the hopeless, helping adult individual’s transition out of homelessness into productive, vibrant and sustainable life. We work within the homeless community, building bridges to safe havens for community members society views as “hard to reach”.
Willbridge bridges the gap between addiction and sobriety, abuse and safety, neglect and care. WillBridge brings hope to the hopeless.
WillBridge is making a difference in Santa Barbara. 60 people went through the program last year and many were reunited with family, employed, or started school and are becoming contributing members to the community.
