Crochet is everywhere… even in the trees

18 Sep 2014 / 0 Comments / in Crochet, News & Updates/by Joanna

I have often read articles and seen pictures of graffiti knitting (also known as yarn bombing, yarn storming, kniffiti or urban knitting). I thought it was an interesting, but crazy idea because of all the work that goes into it. Well, a few days ago I saw my first one in person!

Yarn graffiti

Do I think about yarn too much? Now I’m seeing it in the trees!

The other morning, I was in downtown Santa Barbara to have coffee with my fellow seventh grade moms. I was driving to the parking garage when I saw this spread of crocheted items tied to trees and inside of a sculpture. Wow! It was pretty neat.

The funny thing was that I had just spent the night before with a group of friends in a new crochet group. I haven’t done crochet in awhile, then all of the sudden I was feeling surrounded by it! I wonder how long it has been there.

I knew I had to get a picture, so I parked the car and headed over. It looks like a colorful spider web. The morning sun gave it a really neat look… almost like clothes drying out on clothesline. I snapped my pictures as business people gave me strange looks.

Feeling satisfied, I walked to the restaurant and met a bunch of ladies who I am sure are going to become good friends!
